Deathtale
The Origin Of Hate
Art Gates Records
60/100

Wim S. : Deathtale is a band from Austria that was founded in 2008 by drummer Thomas Krautner, after the the split up of the band Demolition.
With 'The Origin Of Hate' the band is releasing its third studio album. Will this album make the band more successful than they have been so far?
I'm afraid not.

It is simply not good enough. Especially singer Patrick Pieler is an annoying factor.
This is typically someone who wants to play in a metal band but because he cannot play an instrument, he has started singing. Well, he cannot do that either.
What a howler he is, terrible. But then of the superficial kind. Nonstop the same trick with your voice: roar, roar and roar again. Roar to roar. Terrible.
The riffs generally sound pretty good, although I do not hear any original riff passing by. What makes the band stand out are the tight drum patterns of
band leader Krautner and the often beautiful guitar solos of the two guitarists Gehring and Rezaie. Melodic, fast and really adding something to the music.
You do not hear that too often. The song material is quite average; I miss outliers in a positive way. No, with this album the band cannot cross the border.
